The FunkyJahPunkys first formed mid 2006 in Tacoma WA with a goal of making music that would cross over genre lines and entertain all who appreciate a truly "LIVE" rock show. The FjP combine Punk Rock, Funk & Reggae into high energy, kick ass, groovy sets they refer to as..."REBEL MUSIC". The band relocated to Southern California in early 2007 where they quickly climbed the ranks of So. Cal’s vast punk rock scene. In late 2007 the FjP sparked the interest of the Las Vegas music scene and relocated once again to what is considered the new entertainment capital of the world. Since moving to Las Vegas the FjP have enjoyed a continued progressive climb, proven by their consistently growing trackable fan base.
Throughout their existence the FjP have played over 700 shows, many of them while on one of their 15 self developed tours, going as far as Europe and Central America. The FjP have 2 studio and 1 live album already in their arsenal, with their first national release out in October of ‘09 on their self-made, culture based label, Pacific Coast Pirates. PcP Rekerdz recently signed a national distribution deal with Koch Distribution that is personally maintained by the FunkyJahPunkys. The accomplishments of the FjP have all been chronicled on video, allowing them to include digital media with their releases and stay current with today’s high-tech consumer demands.
This uniquely diverse quartet has been described as "nothing less than pure raw energy". All the members of the FjP bring forth a truly intense stage presence, led by their larger than life front man, Justin Gulley, aka GIANTj. With styles ranging from punk rock to funk to reggae, this bands live set always includes a couple of songs for every person in the crowd without having to resort to covers.
With their solid D.I.Y. work ethic, the FjP have taken the stage with many qualified performers, and pleased many different crowds. Some venues of mention: Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's Wasted Space, The Seattle Hempfest, The 22nd Annual High Times Cannabis Cup, The Whiskey A Go-Go, BB Kings Blues Club, Universal Studios, the Oregon Country Fair, Studio Seven Seattle, Costa Rican Cultural Center. Some acts of mention would be Slightly Stoopid, Barrington Levy, Jefferson Starship, D.I., Total Chaos, The Dickies, Long Beach Shortbus, TSOL, Veins of Jenna, Guttermouth, The Dreaming, N2DEEP, Primer 55, Hellride, Big B as well as some of the best local acts throughout the west coast. The FunkyJahPunkys note their best attribute as being free of any rock star ego, allowing them to fully join with, and entertain their audience.
